I picked up a little book the other day, a pamphlet of 32 pages. It was "The Wonderful Story", and my attention was immediately attracted by the inscription, "Liberettoo by Mary B. Brooks, Music by George F. Root". The little brochure was published by the John Church Co., of New York, in 1890. Mr. Root is the writer of some of the most popular church music found in our hymnals today. Mrs. Brooks, of Little Rock, is one of the honored members of our society, one whose artistry has mellowed and brightened with the passing years. There are solos, duets, trios, and quartettesm, of a deeply spiritual nature.
