DescriptionCivil War Veteran's ladderback badge owned by Elias Branick. Branick served as a sergeant in the 1st Arkansas Union Cavalry. The badge shows the 7th Corps symbol (Dept. of Arkansas) and crossed sabers. At the bottom: "61-65". Double stamped on reverse: "J.S. Ginger/Sole Agent/St. Louis" and "Steiner & B. Co./St. Louis".Elias Branick was born on July 28, 1842 in Surry Co., North Carolina (there is a discrepancy about his birthday - his enlistment papers have him as being born July 31st, 1834). He enlisted with the Union Army on March 31, 1862 in McDonald Co., Missouri as a sergeant. His person description at enlistment was:

Light complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He lists his occupation as farming.
Branick served in Co. A, 1st Arkansas Union Cavalry.
He died Nov. 28, 1917 in Missouri.
