DescriptionAdvertisement for the movie "Saigon," starring Hot Springs native Alan Ladd with Veronica Lake. The movie was the fourth and final pairing of Ladd and Lake, two of the most well known stars at the time.

Alan Ladd was born September 3, 1913, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and lived in Arkansas until around the age of five. He was an actor who appeared in over 80 films and was one of the most recognizable celebrities of the 1940s and '50s. He starred in such films as "Two Years before the Mast," "The Blue Dahlia," and "The Great Gatsby." However, Ladd is perhaps best known for his role in the 1953 western movie "Shane." Ladd died on January 29, 1964.

The ad features an image of Ladd in a tuxedo on the left and Lake in full length white dress holding a gun on the right; the images are split by a white rectangular box that runs vertically and has black and red print. Text appears above each star. Above Ladd reads, "There's nothing cold about you...except the gun in your hand!" And above Lake, "You're too much a man...ever to be trusted!" The box contains the name of the stars--last names appear in larger red font--and the title of the movie in large red font.
