DescriptionSons of Veterans Ribbon. Black ribbon with silver lettering in honor of the death of Captain Jacob Ryan. Camp No. 22/Omaha, Arkansas. Fringe hangs from the bottom of the ribbon.

Jacob M. Ryan was born Nov. 20, 1824 in Madison County, Ohio. He enlisted in Co. G of the 54th Illinois Infantry, entering as a Lieutenant and ending the war as a Captain. He spent the end of the war in Little Rock, Arkansas where he was discharged. After the war, Ryan moved to Kansas and was a Justice of the Peace and a sheriff. In 1884, he and his family moved to Boone County, Arkansas. He died June 29, 1893 in Harrison, Arkansas and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.
