    DescriptionDeath mask from inmate James Waybern Hall. The wax mold of inmate Hall's face is mounted on a wooden plaque. Hall was convicted of murder and executed January 4, 1946, at the age of 24 at Tucker Prison. A paper label, with name, age, crime, date, and place, is located on the front.

    James Waybern Hall a.k.a. "Big Jim" and "Red” was born in 1921 in Arkansas. He was dishonorably discharged after eight weeks from the U.S. Navy in 1943, and he married 19 year old Fayrene Clemmons on March 14, 1944. Hall killed Clemmons in September of 1944 and later killed Carl Hamilton in January of 1945. The bodies of E.C. Adams and Doyle Mulherin were both found on February 1, 1945. All of Hall's male victims were robbed and shot once. Hall went on to be convicted of four counts of murder and three counts of robbery after a two day trail in May of 1945, and was sentenced to death. Hall was executed at Tucker prison by electrocution on January 4, 1946 and after he died a death mask of his face was made. (see photograph of James Waybern Hall 2017.034.01 2008.200.47).
