DescriptionMedal from the 1889 St. Louis Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic. The pin is attached to an eagle from which a circular medallion is hanging.Josiah Demby was born August 20, 1840 in Georgia. He enlisted at Little Rock as a 1st Lieutenant in the 4th Arkansas (Union) Cavalry. He was commissioned an officer on March 8, 1864 and mustered out on June 30, 1865. Demby died on Feb. 12, 1918 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
