DescriptionPortrait of Matilda Williams who married Judge Benjamin Suggett Johnson and was the mother of Irene Johnson. Irene's daughter Mary later married Lorenzo P. Gibson, Jr., son of State Legislator, Lorenzo Gibson. She is depicted as an older woman with a lace hat in widow's dress with a black broach. She holds eye glasses in her hand. Matilda came to the Little Rock area in 1821 with her husband.Status
