Dale Evans was born Lucille Wood Smith (she later changed her name to Frances Octavia Smith) on October 31, 1912, in Uvalde, Texas, and spent part of childhood in Osceola, Arkansas. Smith finally changed her named to Dale Evans to help boost her singing career. She was an actress, writer and singer and was best known for her partnership with her husband, Roy Rogers. They co-starred in “The Roy Rogers Show” and the “The Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Show." She also wrote the song “Happy Trails" and appeared in 40 movies. Evans died on February 7, 2001.
