Dale Evans was born Lucille Wood Smith (she later changed her name to Frances Octavia Smith) on October 31, 1912, in Uvalde, Texas, and spent part of childhood in Osceola, Arkansas. Smith finally changed her named to Dale Evans to help boost her singing career. She was an actress, writer and singer and was best known for her partnership with her husband, Roy Rogers. They co-starred in “The Roy Rogers Show” and the “The Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Show." She also wrote the song “Happy Trails" and appeared in 40 movies. Evans died on February 7, 2001.
Children's Dale Evans book bag. The bag is red with black trim and a black handle on top. On the front pocket of the bag is a cartoon image of Dale Evans riding a horse surrounded by blue stars. There are two buckles on either side of the front pocket. The front pocket is fastened by a metal twist fastener.
