Thomas Dale Alford was born on January 28, 1916 near Murfreesboro, Arkansas. Alford won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1958 and was reelected in 1960. He attempted to run for governor in 1962 and again in 1966, but lost both campaigns. Alford died on January 25, 2000 of congestive heart failure.
