    DescriptionBlack and white Photograph of Jim Reed (18??-1874). One of three photos in single frame. Reed grew up in Missouri. His family was friends with the family of Belle Starr, mother of Pearl Starr. Along with the James and Younger brothers, he rode with Quantrill's Raiders during the Civil War. After the war, he continued to run with the James brothers. He eventually rustled cattle with the Tom Starr gang. He remained connected to the two gangs for the rest of his life.

    Reed married Belle Starr in 1866. Reed was killed in August of 1874 by a deputy sheriff in Paris, Texas.
