Heck H. Thomas (1850-1912) was a noted lawman. He was in more than ten recorded gunfights and was responsible for over 300 arrests. In 1886, Heck was appointed a deputy US Marshal working under Judge Isaac Parker. During his first excursion as a Marshal, Heck apprehended eight murderers, a bootlegger, a horse thief, and seven other outlaws. In 1891 Heck was trailing the Daltons and the Doolins gangs.
