DescriptionCigar case depicts the storming of the Bishop's Palace during the Battle of Monterey on September 21, 1846. Case is rectangular with rounded ends. The front of the case has a printed (or painted possibly?) image of American troops in full uniforum, in formation, surrounded by smoke. In the background is a stone construction with numerous raised Mexican flags. The image is flanked on each in by black with a thin guilt border. The reverse of the case is plain black. The interior of the case is opened and hinged by brittle fanned black paper.
