    DescriptionThe necklace and earrings worn by Alta Faubus during the Inaugural Ball celebrating Orval Faubus as the thirty-sixth Governor of Arkansas on January 11, 1955. Alta’s necklace is a loosely braided pairing of emerald and radiant cut rhinestones. A large teardrop rhinestone is suspended from the necklace and is surrounded by smaller radiant-cut rhinestones. The earrings are made of five radiant-cut rhinestones set in a fan shape with round-cut rhinestones studs.

    Celia Alta Faubus was born on August 31, 1912 and she married Orval Faubus in 1931. Alta went on to be the thirty-sixth First Lady of Arkansas when her husband Orval was elected governor in 1955. Alta died on August 9, 2002.
