    DescriptionThe dress Amelia McRae wore during the inauguration of Thomas Chipman McRae as the twenty-sixth Governor of Arkansas on January 12, 1921. The dress is made of black satin and is accented with jet beads. The bodice is loose fitting and forms a tubular silhouette. The neckline is rounded with a tuxedo collar that is accented at the top and bottom with ornamental jet beads. A self-trim band below the natural waistline extends around the back of the dress and ends at the collar lapels in the front of the dress. The band has a jet bead trim in back. The long, set-in sleeves also feature jet beads on the lower back and cuffs. The center panel of the bodice and the front of the calf-length skirt has a floral beadwork design.

    Amelia Ann White McRae was born on October 6, 1855. She served as the twenty-sixth First Lady of Arkansas from 1920 to 1925. She died on December 4, 1947.
