    DescriptionTwo-piece pure silk black faille, basque style. The basque is fitted and trimmed at the back with a swallow tail with jet bead ornamentation. The abbreviated peplum extends from the lower point in the front across the hipline to the back. The sleeves are full length, tight fitting. Jet bead trim on cuffs. The same bead design is used on each side of the front, extending to the shoulders and into the back of the collar which is of medium height, sloping upward to a high point at the back. A tailored vestee of grosgrain ribbon is fastened by hooks and eyes alternating down the front. Entire garment lined with sateen material. All seams and edges are feather-stitched as is the boning. The skirt includes a black net bustle of the Jenny Lind style.

    Lou Krause wore this two-piece dress. Krause was the principal of Arkansas Female College.
