    DescriptionIda Hays's gown she wore during the inauguration of George Washington Hays as the twenty-fourth Governor of Arkansas on August 6, 1913. The dress is made of cream-colored Crepe de Chine and features a semi-fitted bodice with a scoop neckline. The neckline is shadow lace over Crepe de Chine. The elbow length sleeves are in the 'Kimono' style and feature a trim of pearls. The belt is softly folded Crepe de Chine with a pearl trim in the back. The underskirt is made of silk and is floor length with the tubular overskirt wrapping to form a petal effect in front. The left side is draped in front into soft, horizontal, hand-tucked folds that extend into circular tucks in the back. The right side is draped in front and has a layer of scalloped lace, which is draped in long loose vertical folds in the back.

    Ida Virginia Yarborough Hays served as the twenty-forth First Lady of Arkansas from 1913 to 1917. She was born on August 24, 1873 and died on May 10, 1959.
