DescriptionThe battle flag of the 22nd/35th Regiment Arkansas Infantry dated 1862. It is a variant of the 2nd National Flag. It has a field of five red and white horizontal bars of varying widths. The canton is light blue measuring eleven-and-half inches on the staff by eleven-and-half inches on the fly. There are thirteen five-pointed stars that are white with gold edges each one-and-a-half inches set in an "X" shape in the canton. The unit designation is embroidered in white chain stitch: 22nd Regt. The battle honors are embroidered in contrasting red or white block letters on the red and white bars: OAK HILLS, ELK HORN, PRARIE GROVE, HELENA, and JENKINS FERRY.

This flag was long believed to have been associated with Kings 22nd/20th regiment, however, the flag more likely was affiliated with the 22nd/35th Arkansas infantry, who’s combat experience mirrors the battle honors of this flag. This flag was carried until surrender at Shreveport, Louisiana on May 25th, 1865.
