DescriptionA pamphlet of the Biennial Message delivered by Governor James P. Eagle to the Arkansas General Assembly Wednesday, January 11, 1893. The pamphlet features information on all topics involving state government and state military, along with a list of pardons and remissions granted from 1891-1892. It was printed in Little Rock by Press Printing Company.

James Philip Eagle was born August 10, 1837 in Marion County, Tennessee. His family relocated to what is now Lonoke County in 1857 and on January 3, 1882 he married Mary Kavanaugh Oldham Eagle. He served as governor from 1889-1893, a time of great political division among the Democratic Party in Arkansas. As a devout Baptist minister, Eagle was elected president of the Arkansas State Baptist Convention for twenty-four consecutive years. He passed away December 20, 1904 and is buried in Mount Holly Cemetery.
