DescriptionA half-sheet movie poster from the Jumping Jive Black Cast Musical "Beware," starring Brinkley native Louis Jordan. The movie was one of a handful of movies that Jordan starred in during the 1940s. The poster has a yellow and white background, with red and blue print. The sheet shows various actors and scenes from the movie. Jordan's picture is near the top center. In the bottom left corner is a photo of man in a dark suit. A cartoon image of a donkey is above him. In the upper left corner is an image of three men playing instruments. In the upper right corner is an image of two men. Below is an image of a man and woman hugging. Beneath that is an image of a woman and in the bottom right corner is an image of a group of people around a table.

Louis Jordan was born July 8, 1908 in Brinkley, Arkansas. He was an African-American musician, singer and song writer. He briefly attended Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, majoring in music. Although he could play a variety of instruments, he was best known for his saxophone playing and was nicknamed "The King of the Jukebox." He appeared in and sang in a number of movies over the years. Jordan died February 4, 1975.
