DescriptionPress photograph of Louis Jordan in the 1946 movie "Beware." The black and white photograph shows Jordan playing a saxophone at the front of a classroom with his band behind him. Included in the photo is the classroom instructor and a woman standing to the right of Jordan. "Astor Pictures Presents Louis Jordan in 'Beware'" is printed at the bottom of the image in black ink on a white border.

Louis Jordan was born July 8, 1908 in Brinkley, Arkansas. He was an African-American musician, singer and song writer. He briefly attended Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, majoring in music. Although he could play a variety of instruments, he was best known for his saxophone playing and was nicknamed "The King of the Jukebox." He appeared in and sang in a number of movies over the years. Jordan died February 4, 1975.
