DescriptionDVD case for the movie "Brubaker," starring Robert Redford. The cover is black with red and white print and has a color photograph of Redford across the middle. Below the image of Redford and the title in large red print, "One Man Against A Cruel System" is printed vertically in white lettering. The top of the cover is a black and white depiction of a prison fence with coiled barbed wire and a guard's tower.

Released in 1980, Brubaker is loosely based on the 1969 nonfiction book "Accomplices to the Crime: The Arkansas Prison Scandal" by Joe Hyams and Thomas O. Murton. Murton was hired as a prison warden in the late 1960s to modernize two prison farms in Arkansas: the Tucker State Prison Farm (Tucker, Jefferson County) and the Cummins State Prison Farm (Grady, Lincoln County). The controversial book and movie brought national attention to issues such as prisoner abuse, inhumane conditions in prisons, and the need for modernization. The movie stars Redford, Morgan Freeman, Jane Alexander, and Yaphet Kotto.
