“ADMINISTRATOR’S SALE OF SLAVES!!”
“NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That, pursuant to an order of the Court of Probate, of Prairie County, Ark., made at the October Term, 1856, the undersigned, as Administrator of the estate of Richard Pyburn, deceased, will offer, at public auction, to the highest bidder, for sale, for cash, on the 1ST DAY OF JANUARY, 1857, at the front door of the Court House, in Brownsville, Prairie County, Ark., a very valuable, likely, sprightly, sensible, and trusty boy, named AARON, a mulatto, aged about 17 or 18 years. Persons desiring a trusty waiting or carriage boy, would do well to attend, AS HE IS VERY LIKELY.”
“I will, also, pursuant to said order, sell at private sale, for cash, at any time between this and the 1st of January next, the following slaves of said estate, to wit: MACKLIN, a man aged about 50 years, a very faithful and trusty servant; and his wife MARTHA, aged about 37 years, a good house woman; and their child WILLIAM, aged about 20 months, all excellent and faithful servants.”
