DescriptionThis black and white photographic print was taken in the Governor's Office at the State Capital in Little Rock, Arkansas on Labor Day, 1941. Photo shows Governor Adkins seated at a table surrounded by children.

Homer Adkins, born in Pulaski County, was the thirty-second Governor of Arkansas (1941-1945). Adkins fought in World War I and was known for his affliation with the KKK and opposition to civil rights.

Appearing in the photo are (from left to right) Jay Darrel Pearson, Charles W. Smith, Robert D. Smith, Governor Adkins, Norman M. Smith, and Charlotte E. Smith. All were neice and nephews of Governor Adkins.
