DescriptionColor photograph of the seal of U.S.S. Arkansas (CGN41) cruiser. White, blue, gold, red, black.
"The heart of the ship's crest is a stylized version of the diamond and stars taken from the state flag of Arkansas. The four stars in the flag are symbolic of events in the early history of the state of Arkansas. The silhouette of the nuclear cruiser ARKANSAS in the midst of the four stars represents the fact that CGN 41 is the fourth United States ship to bear the name of this proud state.
The 'Defender of Opportunity' is an adaption of the state motto, 'Land of Opportunity,' symbolizing the cruiser ARKANSAS' committment to defense of freedom.
The fouled anchors and braided line encircling the stylized flag are the traditional insignia of seafaring men.
The red, white and blue in the crest are the colors of the United States flag and of the Arkansas state flag. Blue and gold are the colors of the United States Navy."
