The Cate Brothers is a singer-songwriter-musician duo comprised of Earl and Ernie Cate, twin brothers from Fayetteville, Arkansas. In the 1950s, the Cates associated themselves with the Rockwood Club. The Rockwood Club was owned and operated by fellow Arkansan Ronnie Hawkins and featured some of Rock music’s earliest pioneers such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and Conway Twitty. The duo became well known recording artists in the mid-late 1970s and worked with significant artists such as Steve Cropper, Levon Helm, Donald “Duck” Dunn and Timothy B. Schmit. The Cate Brothers were featured on the PBS music television program Austin City Limits in 1979. In recent years, the Cate Brothers have been recording under an independent record label.
