    DescriptionHand-tinted tintype of Confederate soldier, Phillip S. Mann. He is seated with his left arms resting on an unidentified object. Large beard, shaven down to the jaw and chin. He is wearing a jacket and vest, unbuttoned, with a "CS" belt buckle. Also visible are the handles of two pistols.

    Mann was born May 12, 1828 in Cumberland Co., Virginia. He died on February 3, 1883. He is buried in Malvern, Arkansas.

    He enlisted as a private in Morgan's Battalion, Co. C in Clark Co., Arkansas in June, 1863. He transferred to the 6th Arkansas Cavalry, Co. F in February,1864.
