DescriptionAn order to the Sheriff of Jefferson County to summon Robert Brooks and Fred (?) to appear before the Circuit Court Judge on October 1, 1838 (court to be held October 15) to answer to John Palmer (?) Sr. and Jr., administrators of Henry (?) Palmer, Deceased, regarding a debt of $1000 plus damages of $500.Signed J.F. Pullur (?), Clerk. With seal on diamond shaped paper attached at lower left. Form: used to read USA Territory of Ark, but crossed off and "State" substituted for "territory." On reverse: notation by Sheriff saying he received the order September 7, 1838. Traces of glue or wax where the order was posted or attached to something else is present in the lower left and right corners.
