The guitar is autographed "Thanks / Sonny Burgess" in black on the lower bout. The guitar is modeled after an Old Kraftsman Acoustic guitar made by Kay Musical Instrument Company in Chicago, Illinois. It features a light wood neck with dark wood block inlay while the body of the guitar features a Sunburst finish with a white music note decal. The guitar was purchased at Montgomery Ward. The Kay Musical Instrument Company created mid-priced guitars for various retailers such as Sears, Spiegel, and Montgomery Ward.
Albert Austin “Sonny” Burgess (1929 - ) was born May 31, 1929 in Newport, Arkansas. He is best known for his rockabilly hits "We Wanna Boogie" and "Red-Headed Woman" alongside his band The Pacers. Burgess was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of Europe in 1999 and the group was inducted in 2002 into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.
