The desk, with its unusual "arrow head" feet and back legs set flush, is an excellent exampe of late 19th century cabinetmaking taking place in Arkansas. Built of native materials by an immigrant, it speaks of talent, skills and self-reliance, fulfilling the need and, in the process, making an important statement of Arkansas material culture.
Possibly attributed to Simon Sager in Siloam Springs, Arkansas where it was originally used in a funeral director's business.
