DescriptionA handbill entitled "To the People of Arkansas." It contains two letters, one from Jeff Davis and the other from William Lambert. In the letter from Davis in the "Arkansas Gazette" newspaper, he states that his supporters should not believe the lies printed in the Gazette regarding the Bismarck Affair between Jeff Davis and Judge Wood on August 25, 1903. In Lambert's letter, it states that a group of eyewitnesses saw Wood assault Davis. The eyewitnesses claim that the assault was out of line. Black text printed on paper.

Jefferson "Jeff" Davis was born in Rocky Comfort, Arkansas on May 6, 1862. Davis served as the twentieth Governor of Arkansas from 1901 to 1907. Although his administration was said to have "produced more politics than government," Davis succeeded in building a new state house and reforming the penal system. Davis passed away on January 3, 1913 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
