DescriptionNursery Rhyme pattern quilt. This quilt is a child's quilt, with nursery rhyme figures embroidered on every other block. The background is pink cotton and the embroidery is on white blocks. 28 nursery rhyme blocks. The pink blocks also have a design on the as if they were meant to be embroidered. Sandra Todaro says that this quilt is a mail order pattern iron on transfer which was very common in the period between 1920-1950. This quilt is reflective of the black quilt maker at all. Quilted by hand in pink but the blocks are machine stitched together, except for the pink border...it is attached by hand. Embroidered blocks are decorated with hand coloring - crayons.

    Made by Dorothy Lambert White.
