DescriptionA letter written to a Mr. Brown by Jefferson Davis on April 13, 1887. The worn letter is postmarked April 14, 1887 from Beavoir, Mississippi. Included with the letter is a small black and white daguerreotype of Davis taken by New Orleans photographer William Watson Washburn. Beavoir, which is located in Biloxi, Mississippi, was the home of Jefferson Davis (1808-1889), the first and only president of the Confederate States (1861-1865).
