DescriptionThe 6th Regiment Arkansas Volunteer battle flag dated to 1862. It is a cotton flag with a field of blue surrounded by a white border with a white oval in center. Painted lettering is black 3" x 1 3/4" high in Roman uncial and minuscule (all letters vary). The letters read "6th Arks. Shiloh."

This regiment was organized in Little Rock in June, 1861 and was part of Hindman's Brigade. This flag is one of the earliest issued of the Hardee pattern flags. This flag was discontinued in 1862 when the 6th was consolidated into the 7th Regiment Arkansas Volunteers.
