Printed on the back is, "Governor Jeff Davis and Secretary Charles Jackson in his law office in Reugler Bldg. on Louisiana and 2nd Street in Little Rock, Ar. Davis is sitting to the side of a desk, leaning his left arm against it. Jackson is sitting to the right of Davis, in front of a window. Photo has been cropped and is matted on a black matte board. Printed at the bottom is, "Miller/Fayetteville, Ark."

    Jefferson "Jeff" Davis was born in Rocky Comfort, Arkansas on May 6, 1862. Davis served as the twentieth Governor of Arkansas from 1901 to 1907. Although his administration was said to have "produced more politics than government," Davis succeeded in building a new state house and reforming the penal system. Davis passed away on January 3, 1913 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
