DescriptionBlack and white photograph of two Confederate veterans, standing in front of the Old State House Museum by the canon. Both men a dressed in suits, the one of the right is bent over, grasping a cannon ball, while the other is standing upright with his right arm resting on the barrel of the cannon. The men were in town for the 1949 UCV Reunion. Left is W.W. Alexander, 100, and right is James Thrasher. 97.

The two men were among the few living veterans of the Civil War. The Old State House, which had traditionally been the site for numerous large reunions and ceremonies, hosted concerts and other events to honor these gentlemen's service. This photograph is but an example of many publicity photographs.

On the back, there is the hand-written inscription "Ark. Democrat appeared/9-27-1949."
