    Description"Porgy and Bess." C.D. cover shows a color picture from the play. Picture shows Warfield and Price in front of a backdrop. The background is white and the title is across the top in red lettering. Originally released by RCA Records in 1963.

    William Warfield was a concert bass-baritone singer and actor born in West Helena, Arkansas, in 1920. Warfield is best known for his roles in “Porgy and Bess” and in the film version of “Showboat." He is largely credited with performing the best rendition of the classic song "Ol Man River." He acted in five films. Warfield still performed up until his death in 2002.
