    Mary Kavanaugh Oldham Eagle was born in February 4, 1854. She was married to James Philip Eagle, Arkansas's sixteenth Governor. Mary Oldham Eagle took a more active role as First Lady with her interest in the sciences, women’s suffrage, and her international concerns. Mary served on the Board of Lady Managers and chaired the Board’s Committee on Congresses at the 1893 Chicago’s World Columbian Exposition. Mary also edited the book, The Congress of Women, World’s Columbian Exposition. She played a major role in her husband's political campaigns and subsequent gubernatorial parties, even so far as to write her husband's address to the General Assembly due to his poor health at the time. She passed away February 15, 1903.
