    DescriptionA matchbook supporting democratic candidates, Alfred E. Smith and Joseph T. Robinson, for the 1928 presidential election. The top of the matchbook reads, “Democratic Candidates" in bold, capital black text. Underneath this is a thick, black rectangle that contains photos of Smith and Robinson inscribed in a decorative border. Smith is depicted on the left wearing a suit and tie, and Robinson is on the right, also wearing a suit and tie. Underneath Smith's photo it reads, "Alfred E. Smith. For President." and underneath Robinson's photo it reads, "Joseph T. Robinson. For Vice President." Above the photos of the candidates is bold, black text that reads "vote for."

    Joseph Taylor "Joe T." Robinson was born on August 16, 1872 in Lonoke County, Arkansas. In 1912, Robinson ran for governor and won. He went on to run for Vice President in the 1928 election, but was unsuccessful. He died of a heart attack on July 14, 1937.
