Governor Clinton spoke before the convention of the Democratic Leadership Council to lay down the philosophy and goals of the Council in the convention’s keynote address. The Democratic Leadership Council, a conservative Democratic group, attracted around 800 delegates to their first convention in Cleveland, including members of Congress, representatives from state and local governments, and lobbyists for special interests.
William “Bill” Jefferson Clinton, born William Jefferson Blythe IV, was born in Hope, Arkansas on August 19, 1946. Clinton was the fortieth and forty-second governor of Arkansas, as well as the forty-second president of the United States. He married his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in 1975 and their daughter, Chelsea, was born in 1980.
