Marche, Arkansas is an area of Pulaski County about twelve miles north of Little Rock. It is a traditionally Polish community and was settled by Polish immigrants beginning in 1877. A Polish political refugee named Count Timothy von Choinski was bothered by the slums in larger cities such as Chicago and New York where Polish immigrants were settling and decided to purchase 22,000 acres in central Arkansas for immigrant families to relocate for better lives. Marche is considered to be one of the most successful immigrant resettlement projects in Arkansas history.
