DescriptionA piece of scrip issued by the Washington Exchange Company in Washington, Arkansas for the value of ten cents. The scrip features the names of the Washington Exchange Company members along the top of the note in small print. The serial number for the note is 3499 and was issued April 1, 1862.The left edge of the note reads: "TEN CENTS" / "MEMBERS W. WX. COMPANY."
The main body of the note reads: " E. Mirick, W.W. Andrews, J.D. Trimble, D. Block, W.D. Green, A.B. Williams, B.F. Fall, H Gardes." / "No 3499 E. No 3499 E." / "The Cashier of the WASHINGTON EXCHANGE COMPANY will pay to the bearer in Arkansas War Bonds, Treasury Notes, Confederate Notes, or Louisiana Bank Notes, TEN CENTS, when the sum of Ten Dollars is presented at his Office, Washington, Arkansas, April 1,1862." / "H. Gardes, Cash. A.B. Williams, Prs't." / "Secured by Special Deposit of Arkansas War Bonds, Treasury Notes, Confederate and Louisiana Bank Notes."
