DescriptionA black and white photograph of Winthrop Rockefeller in 1959. The photo ran with a story about Rockefeller following his brother, the governor of New York, into politics. Rockfeller would later be elected as Governor of Arkansas in 1967.

Winthrop Rockefeller was born on May 1, 1912 in New York City, New York. His grandfather, John D. Rockefeller, was the founder of Standard Oil Company. Rockefeller moved to Morrilton, Arkansas in 1953, founding Winrock Farms and entering into state politics shortly thereafter. In 1955, Govenor Orval Faubus named Rockefeller to the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission. Rockefeller lost the 1964 Governor's election to Faubus before becoming the thirty-seventh governor of Arkansas in 1967. He was reelected in 1969. Rockefeller died of pancreatic cancer on February 22, 1973, in Palm Springs, California.
