DescriptionTwo advertisements--glued together, back to back--for movies starring Hot Springs native Alan Ladd. One ad is for the movie "The Great Gatsby."Alan Ladd was born September 3, 1913, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and lived in Arkansas until around the age of five. He was an actor who appeared in over 80 films and was one of the most recognizable celebrities of the 1940s and '50s. He starred in such films as "Two Years before the Mast," "The Blue Dahlia," and "The Great Gatsby." However, Ladd is perhaps best known for his role in the 1953 western movie "Shane." Ladd died on January 29, 1964.

On the right side, an image of Ladd in a long dress coat and hat. There several women at the bottom of the ad looking up at him. On the opposite side is an ad for the movie, "Whispering Smith". The bottom of the ad is blue and the top of the ad has a western scene of a train and cattle running. Red black, yellow and white print. In the bottom left corner is an image of Ladd and a woman on a horse rearing up on its hind legs.
