DescriptionLobby card from the movie "The Pride of St. Louis," a biographical movie about Lucas, Arkansas native and Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Dizzy Dean.Jay Hanna "Dizzy" Dean (January 16, 1910 – July 17, 1974) was born in Lucas (Logan County), Arkansas. Dean was a Major League Baseball pitcher and was the last National League pitcher to win 30 games in a single season. Before the 1934 season began -- the year Dean won 30 games -- Dean predicated that he and his newly signed brother, who had never pitched in the majors, would win a combined 45 games. Incredibly, Dean and his brother won a combined 49 games that season. The brothers proceeded to win all four games in the 1934 World Series for the Cardinals. Dean was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953. Dean pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals (1930-1937), the Chicago Cubs (1938-1941), and briefly for the St. Louis Browns (1947). "The Pride of St. Louis," a motion picture based on Dean's career, was released in 1952. After his playing career, Dean found success as a broadcaster for the Cardinals and became known for his colorful language and unique approach.

A red baseball bat appears across the bottom of the card and reads, "...The Story of Dizzy Dean!"
