I arrived at this place day before yesterday (?) sick. Am able to sit up in my bed now. When I left Memphis I thought myself very near well but have taken a back(?). Their [sic] is no private house in fifteen miles of this place that a man can get to stay at. All have moved off for the fight which is expected every day.
