James R. Giles served in Co. E of the 15th Arkansas Infantry. Giles enlisted in the Confederate Army on Dec. 29, 1861 in Magnolia, Arkansas. He was captured Feb. 16, 1862 at Fort Donelson, Tennessee and sent to Johnson's Island, Ohio. He was exchanged at Vicksburg on Sept. 1, 1862. Giles was captured again on July 9, 1863 at Port Hudson, Louisiana and sent to Fort Delaware and then to Point Lookout, Maryland. Released April 28, 1865.
