DescriptionHandwritten letter from Dr. Ida Jo Brooks to Mary Burt. The letter is written on Arkansas State Homoeopathic Medical Association letterhead,. Written in pen.11/4/29
Dear Mary Burt,
Your mother thought that you would like to read this letter. Please destroy it when you have read it. Be sure that no one else sees it.
Many, many years ago, when I was about your age, the greatest desire of my life was to attend Northeastern University - Fate or some other adverse power defeated my great hope. I am vicariously happy in having you there. You were my only hope (?) the only possible Miss Brooks to attend during my life-time. And for awhile I was afraid that Uncle Mac would prevent it.
I hope that you are happy. I have no misgiving about your being all that I might have hoped to be. We enjoy your letters which your mother allows us to read. I am afraid that (?) will have to look to her laurels. You may become a writer before she does.
All last week, we had rain. Today is bright but a little chilly.
Affectionately,
Aunt Ida
