The book details Arkansas' role in the Civil War. Given to Col. V.Y. Cook at completion, this manuscript was never published in book form due to a lack of funds at the time. It was discovered among Col. Cook's personal papers in 1962.

Wright was from Memphis and served with the Confederacy in the 154th Tennessee during the Civil War.
