DescriptionColor postcard of the Confederate monument and cannon on the front lawn of the courthouse in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The monument was unveiled in 1903 and cost $2,750. The funds were raised by the local Varina Jefferson Davis Chapter of the U.D.C. General William Cabell was in attendance during the unveiling. The postmark is May 13, 1912 and the postcard was mailed from Earl Clickenbeard in Rich Mountain, Arkansas to William J. Clickenbeard in Jefferson City, Missouri.
